Horror As Five Family Members Die Mysteriously In Enugu

Dead man

There is serious panic in Enugu following the tragic death of five family members in mysterious circumstance at their family house at Amaokpo, Nike, Enugu East Local Government Area of Enugu State.

TheNation gathered that the family of Onyekwere Chukwumalu of Eziowelle, Idemili Local Government Area of Anambra, it was gathered, went to sleep on Monday night but was discovered dead on Wednesday morning with their body peeling off, an indication that they might have died of a chemical or generator fume.

It was also gathered that nobody knew of their death until somebody who worked with late Mr. Chukwumalu, a building contractor, went to look for him on appointment but found the house locked but his vehicle was parked outside.

He was forced to move closer to discover that the family was lying down dead in one heap as the late Chukwumalu was said to have held his family together as if they were praying.

It was further gathered that the incident attracted the neighbourhood, who contributed money to break into the house to bring out the corpses.

It was equally gathered that the police at Abakpa Nike, the Chairman of Enugu East, Hon. Alex Ugwu and the UN rescue mission went to the place to see things for themselves Wednesday evening.

It was also gathered that in the process of bringing out the corpses that one of the man’s children, Arinze, 10, shouted Jesus and was later rushed to UNTH, Ituku-Ozala, where he is said to be responding to treatment.

Speaking to newsmen Thursday at the National Orthopedic Hospital, Enugu where the corpses of the deceased were kept, the South East Zonal Commander of the United Nations Rescue team, Emmanuel Okoye said that somebody informed them about the incident that a man and his family was killed and they went to the scene.

Okoye told newsmen that they helped to take the corpses to the mortuary since the police was nowhere to be found at the time the rescue team went to the scene.

Contacted, the Chairman of Enugu East Local Government Area, Hon. Alex Ugwu said that late Chukwumalu was a good person and wondered how he would die in that manner.

He attributed his death to a possible food poisoning since there was no generator to suggest that it could be as a result of fumes from exhaust.

“When I heard about the incident, I alerted the police and the Ministry of Health to take charge. It was when the officials if the Ministry of Health were trying to evacuate the corpse that one of the man’s children sneezed and was discovered to be alive and was rushed to the hospital,” he said.

Efforts to get the police comment on the incident yielded little dividend as the police spokesman, Daniel Ndukwe Ekea, said that he was not aware of the incident but that he would “get back to me.”

French Ligue 1 And 2 Season Cancelled

The French Ligue 1 and 2 2019/20 season has been cancelled after Edouard Philippe on Tuesday said football matches will not be played in the country until September.

“The big sporting affairs cannot occur before September. The 2019-20 football season cannot return,” Philippe said as part of measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The French Professional Football League (LFP) had last week revealed plans for the resumption of the leagues on June 17 with UEFA giving August 2 as the date for the completion of domestic leagues in Europe.

In a statement, the LFP, however, said in accordance with the pronouncements made by the Prime Minister, the 2019-20 Ligue 1 and 2 season has ended.

“The LFP Board of Directors, which met on Tuesday 28 April, has taken note of the declarations by French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe,” the statement read.

“As the case has been since the beginning of this health crisis, the LFP will adhere strictly to the decisions of the government and medical authorities.

“The Board of Directors will meet on 30 April to analyse the sporting and economic consequences of the measures announced by the Prime Minister.

“Following this meeting the Board of Directors will have to formally decide to end the 2019-20 season and call a General Assembly of the LFP.”

While this donation came directly to the state, the initial gesture was made through the private sector-led Coalition Against Corona Virus (CACOVID-19), according to a statement by Rafiu Ajakaye, spokesman for Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the Kwara State Technical Committee on COVID-19.

The new donation brings to N230m the total cash donations the state has received so far in its efforts to contain the deadly virus, the statement added.

The government is particularly grateful to Alhaji AbdulSamad — and all others like him for the generous donations which have helped in no small measure to combat the fight against the pandemic,” the statement added.

I hated football' - Ozil & Neuer's former international team-mate admits playing Bundesliga games on drugs

Chinedu Ede has retired from football to pursue a career in music, and has admitted to still being under the residual effects of drugs while playing

A former international team-mate of Manuel Neuer, Mesut Ozil and Mats Hummels has admitted he used to play in the Bundesliga while under the residual effects of drugs.

Chinedu Ede was a member of Germany’s victorious 2009 Under-21 European Championship squad, and played in the German top flight for Mainz and Hertha Berlin among other clubs.

Now 33, he retired from the game last year and is now pursuing a career in music.

A recently released music video called ‘Reflection ’ includes the lines ‘I hated football’, and ‘In front of 60,000 in the Bundesliga, sometimes wasted’.

Speaking with T-Online , Edu explained that his hate was directed towards the football industry, which he sees as sapping the individuality from the people in it.

"I started because it was fun,” he said.

"In this industry, and football really is an industry, they simply want adaptable robots, who keep telling the same sh*t over and over again. Everything around it, with all these officials – it disgusted me.

"99 per cent of the players who spoke openly and honestly were replaced very quickly. Everything made me feel so disgusted.

“It had nothing to do with the original sport anymore. Anybody with rough edges was chiselled down until they fit into this world.

“Sure, you got a lot of money for it, but in the end no money in the world justifies not being able to be yourself."

Asked to explain whether the aforementioned line really was about drugs, Ede confirmed: "It’s basically the way it’s understood.

"Sometimes you lose touch with reality so much and want to make it right, so it was like medicine. Then you play and you still have a residual effect from the drugs.

“But on the other hand, I also mean the fact that I was playing on painkillers all the time.

“When you had an injury, you were encouraged to start [training] again earlier than was really good for your body.”

Starting at Hertha, Berlin-born Edu also represented Duisberg, Union Berlin, Mainz and Kaiserslautern before heading overseas.

He went on to play for Cypriot side Anorthosis Famagusta, FC Twente and Bangkok United, before returning to Berlin with minnows VSG Altglienicke.

Edu represented Germany at every youth level from U-17 to U-21, but never made the step up to the senior side.
